The caves are awesome! The hike, beautiful! The man at the entrance selling tickets, really sweet! Highly recommended to visit it! And there was nobody else there

The fee is 20k. Sunrise is amazing. Not many people for Sunrise. The workers are very nice. We enjoyed a lot. You should visit

Superbe lieux!

Nice viewpoint after 15 min of active walking. The cave is a must see as well. Just be careful with the lady at the entrance who never went to school but will try to rip you off with the bills you gave her.

Epic viewpoint, and not crowded at all. Go here! The people who run the place are so nice too.they gave us fruit when we got back down from the hike! Not a hard trek up.maybe takes 20 minutes to get to the top. Awesome find!

People are confusing/mixing caves. Phapoungkham caves are 2 entrances in the same mountain like 400 meters apart from eachother. Not really a tourist place, the way to them its hard, and the caves can be dangerous if you choose to go alone, lots of big holes. But this make them awesome wild with nice views, just try to not go alone and tell to your hotel where you are heading in case you get lost.

Arguably one of the best hikes in Vang Vieng. It's one of the new ones, I found they're constructing the statue of a horse at the very top, and there are almost no tourists. It's about a kilometer after the Nam Xay viewpoint. I didn't go inside the cave, it's really narrow and didn't look very safe.

Hidden gem outside beaten path. The road to get there isn't great and nobody were at ticket office booths. We got to the end of the road and a man arrived in motorbike offering a tour of the cave for 10k kip. He had frontal torches for us and had a lot of explanations in local dialect. Luckily I could understand some of it as it was very interesting. The cave is huge and without a guide some areas could be dangerous (like a 70+m pitfall from a previous cave floor collapse). We haven't visited the second cave with the viewpoint as it was getting late and the next day weather didn't allow. But it's definitely on our bucketlist!

These should be two different locations/attractions as you need separate 10 kip tickets. The lookout is within 100m of the main road. I went up three different lookout, all similar in terms of view (you can see them from each other) but this was by far the quietest perhaps because it is further from town and less developed (no associated restaurant or store). The caves are past the lookout and probably 500m past the ticket booth; just keep following the road. The caves are spectacular but you should be wearing proper shoes and have a good light (not your phone). Cave 1 goes back probably 250m? Cave 2 may not be as deep but you need to be more agile to get around in it. In February it was near 100% humidity in cave 2 so be prepared to sweat especially after climber a few hundred steps to get to it. Such a place would have an interpretation centre and all sorts of rules in the western world. Interesting experience to be all alone in a cave like that if you turn off the light.

Short walk/climb up, approximately 10 min.if you are fit.
Nice little hut up there.
Crowded place at sunset.

Certainly worth the climb.
Starting things off with the entrance fee which is 10.000 KIP like almost every place you'll find in the area. The hike to the cave is relatively easy. Be aware though there's no stairs or so. The cave itself isn't super special in comparison to other caves we've seen in the countryside of Vang Vieng, but is certainly not boring. We were completely alone in this mostly untouched cave and free to explore all it's dark corners. Watch out for a big deep hole in the floor on the left side of the cave though.
Afterwards there's a pretty steep path up to the top where you can find a pretty nice 360° viewpoint. To reach it you gotta climb some ladders and walk across only planks at the end. Absolutely worth it though. You will be awarded with a stunning vision of the scenery from a wooden construction up top and even see another viewpoint on the mountain along the street.

It's very hard to get into, but once you got there, it's all worth the trip. Beautiful nature -spring, cave, and observation deck. Could be busy at times and food option is quite limited. Would suggest to bring/prepare your meals and have a great picnic.

The cave is not worth the 15k entrance fee.
The water hole at the bottom is really nice and fun
